Where did the idea for Coaching Together come from?

Tiny Clapham former GB Team member and renowned trainer / coach has taken combinations from scratch to The Olympics. Tiny explains,

“I met both Alison and Sarah whilst on the Centre Ten Advanced Programme in 2018. I became aware that people have different ways of learning. With this in mind and recognising how we can help support riders and horses in their learning, we tested our concept that 3 coaches working together for day camp training would help riders past the natural blocks to learning.
The feedback we have received from our initial two days has been positive.
Riders told us that the camp created a positive environment and opened up new conversations. Riders and Coaches really enjoyed the new opportunity to spark learning in a fun setting with serious goals and  performance plans. We have now tweaked our formula for the better to be able to provide a day of learning and understanding.”

Learn Together

We know that sometimes our sport can feel lonely and riders have told us that when they meet up for training at our camps, the really special ingredient is the chance to ride and learn with others. Our Coaching Team really enjoy the opportunity to collaborate and bouncing ideas around brings an exciting dynamic to the camps. A happy rider is usually producing a happy horse and our coaching commitment to our horse and rider combinations is to share our knowledge and skill. We believe that every horse and rider has the potential to develop and we support riders to believe in themselves and their horse.

Clear Communication

We know that clear communication is vital for horse, rider and coach to be able to work with each other.  We listen to our riders AND their horses and work as a team to deliver great coaching sessions.

Concise Explanation

We know terminology and lengthy instructions can sometimes get in the way of finding a feel for the horse’s way of going. We aim to help you find clarity and confidence in the exercises so that you can move forwards with your horse.

TINY CLAPHAM

Senior Coach

I will coach the jumping sessions as well as taking an active part overseeing the other sessions.

I am an International Event Rider and Performance Consultant.

“Horses have been my life for as long as I can remember.

Both my parents were involved with horses; my father was in the army and hosted hounds, and my mother bred champions. I always knew that I wanted to Event and, having gained ‘fall back’ qualifications, my father relented and allowed me to pursue my passion.

I rode internationally with medals as a Junior and Senior culminating with an Olympic Silver team medal at Los Angeles. I have competed at Badminton and Burghley on numerous occasions and gained many other significant results.

In order to create a base to impart my knowledge, I founded Eventers International and I am proud of my record supporting and producing a whole host of horses, teams and riders at all levels, three of whom have gone on to the Olympics.”
