Week 6 Performance PreparationÂ
Â

Preparing to Perform
Performance preparation isn’t just about the day you ride down the centre line it’s about the clarity, intention, and trust you build in the weeks before.
Whether you’re planning to enter a competition or setting yourself a personal challenge, this week is about making that preparation meaningful.
We’ll explore:
-
How to set process-based goals that guide your training.
-
How to know when you’re ready.
-
What your horse might need, before, during, and after your performance.
-
How to enjoy the experience and celebrate your progress.

Your Foundations for Performance
Before the entries are filled in, before the show ring or video is set up, what’s the purpose behind your preparation?
This week, reflect on:
-
What do you want to experience not just achieve?
-
What are your process goals? (e.g., riding accurate lines, maintaining rhythm, staying calm at the start)
-
What does your horse need to feel prepared, confident, and supported?
Building readiness isn’t just about nailing the test. It’s about building connection, understanding your strengths as a team, and developing the rhythm of consistent, intentional training.

Set out Your Challenge
You don’t need to wait for a show date to ride with purpose.
Choose a goal or moment this week that feels like a step forward:
-
Record a test at home.
-
Ride through a full floorplan or sequence you’ve been building towards.
-
Create a mini "show day" at your yard with a clear warm-up, ride, and cool-down.
Focus on the preparation—not perfection.
Ask yourself:
-
Have I locked in the logistics? (horse care, travel, gear, time)
-
Do I know where I’ll ride, what surface, what time of day works best?
-
How can I support my horse to feel relaxed and ready?
This is your chance to rehearse, refine, and reconnect with the joy of presenting your training.

From Preparation to Perspective
After your ride, take a moment to reflect.
-
What felt strong?
-
What surprised you?
-
Did your horse enjoy it?
-
What would you do again? What might you do differently?
Sharing this journey can give you insight and inspiration. Use the Rider Lounge to talk about your prep, your ride, your reflections. It’s not about comparison. It’s about connection.
And if your friends are preparing for a challenge too, invite them to join you! Encourage each other, swap tips, and support each other’s next steps.
